Sky Sports Community Radio continues to stand at the forefront of public health advocacy in Cameroon, using the power of media to save lives. During the COVID‑19 pandemic, while global focus shifted to the coronavirus, the malaria crisis quietly deepened—especially in rural and underserved communities.

According to recent health data, the pandemic disrupted malaria prevention programs, delayed treatment, and strained medical resources. In sub-Saharan Africa, millions more malaria cases were reported due to reduced access to antimalarial drugs and prevention tools like insecticide-treated nets. Some health facilities had to suspend community outreach, spraying campaigns, or seasonal malaria chemoprevention drives.

At the same time, vaccine hesitancy—fueled by misinformation during the COVID-19 era—posed new challenges to malaria control, including the rollout of the RTS,S malaria vaccine in Cameroon.

To respond to these growing concerns, Sky Sports Community Radio launched a series of educational videos and interactive broadcasts aimed at:

• Raising awareness about malaria symptoms, prevention, and early treatment
• Rebuilding public trust in vaccines and medical advice after the COVID-19 misinformation wave
• Encouraging families to seek timely care at health centers despite pandemic-related fears
• Highlighting local success stories in the rollout of the malaria vaccine

These videos are part of our broader campaign to bridge the gap between health services and the public, especially in remote areas. Through interviews with health workers, testimonies from mothers, and mobile outreach recordings, our team has worked tirelessly to amplify voices that often go unheard.

We believe that no virus or epidemic should overshadow ongoing battles like malaria, which remains one of Cameroon's deadliest diseases—especially for children under five.

As a community radio station, we're proud to stand with healthcare workers, educators, and parents in making accurate health information accessible to all.

Together, we continue the fight.
